We are using Schluter KERDI Waterproofing for our bathrooms. The KERDI-BOARD building panels are quick, easy, and lightweight compared to cement board. Using the KERDI Waterproofing Band will create a vapor tight seal that prevents leakage and mold growth. The Schluter-DITRA Tile Floor Underlayment eliminates the main cause of cracked tiles and effectively protects against moisture and vapor penetrating the subfloor.

Tile Choices for a Coastal Modern Mood
Our tile choices will carry our Coastal Modern Design into our bathroom spaces. We love the neutral Crema Terrazzo, which will bring a natural elegance to those spaces. This luxurious tile will be installed on the floors in our guest bathroom, powder room, and primary bathroom. The Veronese terrazzo is a nod to mid-century modern design and stacking the Habitat tiles will enhance the modern feel of the bathroom spaces.
VERONESE NERO FIELD TILE
A favored material of ancient artisans, terrazzo has a sublime and modern allure with Veronese. Custom-crafted in Italy in both 24″ × 24″ tile and 2cm slab, Veronese is composed of 95% marble, strengthened with 5% resin. Offered in three colors: Multicolored, with chips of Arabescato Bianco marble and jewel-like green and violet Lepidolite mica; Crema, featuring Arabescato Bianco marble’s softly neutral range; and Nero, with classic Bianco Carrara dramatically set into ink-black resin. All colors are stocked in a honed finish, and slabs measure approximately 48″ × 120″.

Habitat
Once we selected the terrazzo, we needed to find tiles that would be harmonious in mood, color, quality, and scale. Chris from Ceramic Matrix suggested Habitat in Cloud, which is similar to classic subway, but gets an update with an elongated shape, glossy sheen, and undulated finish. The 2.5″ x 10.3″ field tiles will complement the terrazzo and look stunning stacked in our guest and primary bathrooms. We also ordered matching Habitat Finishing Edges for a clean, finished look. Finally, we are using White Penny Rounds on the primary shower floor to prevent slipping in the shower.
